Cameras have become more versatile over the years. You can take them underwater and throw them around and not worry about them breaking. However, just because a camera claims that it can withstand drops from great heights or being submersed in water does not mean that you shouldn't have it insured.
You should always make sure that you have camera insurance so that your camera is covered no matter what the eventuality, even if it does let in water when the specifications say that it won't.
